Kate had a crush on Johnny from practically the first moment they met, and though there were feelings on his end too, it took him a long time to act on them. His funeral was then made even more dramatic and emotional by the way the two women’s decades-long friendship seems to be at a breaking point.
Though some fans might have feared that it would turn out to be Tully’s funeral, they were still left sad to discover it was Kate’s father Bud who died. And, fans find out, it’s Kate’s dad who has passed away. While the show makes it seem like the funeral could be for Tully, she goes to the funeral later in the episode. In the end, Kate does indeed pass, leaving Tully to take care of Johnny and her family after she’s gone. Does Tully end up with Johnny in fly away?
